Leanne Manning has a Bachelor of Music (honours) from the University of Queensland, Australia, a Graduate Diploma in Performance from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, where she was the winner of the Conservatorium and Yamaha Woodwind Prizes, and a Master of Music from Michigan State University, USA. She made concerto appearances with both University and Conservatorium Orchestras, was principal clarinet of the International Youth Orchestra, principal clarinet and soloist at the Rome Festival in Italy, and in the U.S.A., played regularly in San Diego and Los Angeles with many chamber ensembles and orchestras, including the Long Beach and Santa Monica Symphony Orchestras, the Moscow Grigorovich Ballet, and Sonor, the faculty contemporary music ensemble at UCSD.
She is currently Principal Clarinet of the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra in China, a member of the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong, and free-lances as an extra player with the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the Macau Orchestra, and other ensembles.
She regularly performs solo recitals and chamber music, having played for the Hong Kong Chamber Music Society, broadcast for RTHK Radio 4, and at other venues. In 2003 she won first prize in the Co-op Press Woodwind Recording Competition, which included a commercial CD release and numerous public radio broadcasts across the USA.
In 2005 she performs solo recitals at the Melbourne International Festival of Single Reeds in Australia, and at ClarinetFest 2005, in Tama-Tokyo, Japan. |
