Artem Konstantinov was born in 1976 into a family of musicians. Keen on music since early childhood, he began studying the cello at the age of 7 with Professor T. Magidina, and was awarded the first prize at the Russian Children's Violoncello Competition that same year.  Over the next several years he consistently won prizes at competitions for young string players in Russia. 

After a successful debut at the Moscow International Cello Competition in 1990, winning second prize, he was invited by the Moscow Tchaikovsky College to study in the class of Professor Alexei Seleznyov.  During this time he gained much continued performing experience.

Subsequently, at the Moscow Conservatory, he was enrolled in the class of Professor K. Rodin, winning second prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Italy, in 1995 and first prize at the Russian Cello Competition in 1997. He has studied with master cellists Alexander Kniazev, Natalya Shakovskaya, Alexander Rudin and Marina Tarasova, and has performed in the best concert halls in Russia, including The Big Hall at the Moscow Conservatory, the Rachmaninov Concert Hall, Rubenstein Concert Hall, as well as other prestigious halls of Europe.

Upon  completion of studies at the Moscow Conservatory, he went to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London to study with Professor Stefan Popov, earning a Doctor of Musical Arts.

For the last six years he has been Principal Cellist of the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, and honorary Professor of Cello at the Shenzhen School of the Arts.
